We are halfway to the Halloween Season… which means it’s time to start thinking about the exciting return of Halloween after hours events in our favorite theme parks!
Today we’re giving you the spooky scoop on Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort. For 2025, this special ticketed event will run from August 29 through November 2, Wednesday through Sunday nights in the park.
Halloween Horror Nights is a great event to experience with friends and family that you trust. Are you willing to watch a scary movie marathon with them? They may be the perfect pals for this event!
Halloween Horror Nights is one of the top-rated nighttime Halloween events where guests can face ten Haunted Houses, multiple Sinister Scare Zones, exhilarating live entertainment, and more. This event is a true scary Halloween event, which means the experience may be too intense or graphic for some guests. (In fact, it is recommended that guests are 13 or older to attend.) This event typically runs from 6pm until 2am, though hours may vary on select nights.
The park will close early for all guests in order to prepare for the special ticketed Halloween Horror Nights event. Tickets will be available to purchase soon and your Goofy Getaways Travel Consultant will be able to help you secure tickets and other experiences such as an RIP tour!
Guests with a day ticket to the park or those who purchase a Stay and Scream pass will be able to be in the park when it closes allowing them to enter various queues for first access to some of the Haunted Houses. Guests will be able to use pre-party time to wait in lines and some houses will even open shortly before the official start of the event, which can save valuable time during the event. Guests waiting in Stay and Scream areas are often able to complete 1-3 hours within the first hour of the event!
You’ll find a variety of different themed houses. Past themes have included Stranger Things, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines.
For guests with only one night to visit Halloween Horror Nights and/or wanting the best experience, we recommend the RIP tour or Express Pass. The RIP tour offers a private ( meaning just the folks in your party) or non-private option (a shared experience with other guests in a party up to 12). To kick off the tour, guests can enjoy a buffet with special Halloween treats and light snacks before heading out on their guided tour. They will be led through all the Scare Zones, provided front of the line access to all the Haunted Houses and even priority seating during the Nightmare Fuel show. Express pass for Halloween Horror Nights allows guests to use the Express Lane for the Haunted Houses and even the attractions that are open during the event… but only once per house and/or attraction.
Incredibly talented performers are everywhere during the event, but they aren’t allowed to touch you - so no worries there!
Not sure you are ready to commit to Halloween Horror Nights? They offer an Unmasking the Horror tour during the day where you can be guided through a few of the houses with the lights on and learn more about the houses and their back stories. This is an amazing experience, and a great “entry level” experience for those who aren’t quite sure if Halloween Horror Nights is for them, but please note that it is still graphic, and may be best suited for guests 13 and older.
