Allergy Friendly Tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Trick or Treat, it’s time for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

This seasonal event has something for everyone at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park and features exclusive extras you can only experience as a ticket holder to the party. From spectacular fireworks, to merchandise, special character meet and greets and the incredibly popular Boo-To-You Halloween parade, there is so much for you and your family to enjoy!

But what about some Trick-or-Treating? Yes, that’s included, too! When you enter the event, you are given a reusable bag and candy. There are multiple spots located all around the park to fill up your bags with tempting treats. And when I say fill, I mean fill!

Cast members have large scoops in hand to dish out candy from big barrels at every stop! We made it to only 3 stops and our bags were already stuffed with chocolatey, sugary goodness. Don’t worry adults, you are included too! This party isn’t just for kids, but also kids at heart.

One of the things I appreciated the most about this event and Disney parks in general is the allergy-friendly options. If you’re like me and you or someone in your party has a dietary or allergy restriction, fear not! You will find Disney has made it easy to be sure all can safely participate in Trick-or-Treating.

Allergy friendly treat bags at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party are bright teal and include instructions for guests.

When you enter the event, ask for an allergy friendly treat bag. This will be a bright teal color making cast members aware as you go about the treat stops. Instead of getting a scoop of candy, you’ll receive a teal coin to place in your bag. Don’t worry, you’ll can still get a completely full bag of treats with those coins later! Once you’ve explored the park and decide it’s time to redeem, you’ll go to an Allergy Friendly Center located at the main entrance on Main Street, U.S.A. and Liberty Square (you don’t have to wait until the end of the night and can exchange your coins multiple times through the night). The cast members there will ask you what allergy you have then proceed to fill your bag with a plethora of treats that are safe to consume. And honestly, your non-allergy restricted friends will be jealous of the goodies you get.

As someone who is gluten free, I received birthday cake granola, delicious gummy bears and fruit snacks, peanut butter cups, suckers, chocolate bars and more! It was exciting to paw through the bag and discover so many different types of candy I could eat!

Although this is well organized and safety is a priority, always remember, especially if your allergy is severe, to look through your items just to be sure. The same goes for specialty snacks featured at this event. Check the Disney World app for allergy friendly items or ask to see the allergy information binder located at all dining and snack locations.

Have fun, and always be safe with your food choices.
