What to do at Disney outside the theme parks?

Most guests visiting Walt Disney World are focused on the theme parks, but did you know there are so many other fun things to do at the Walt Disney World resort?  Many of these activities come at no additional cost as well.

  • Explore the resort- Disney resorts are much more than a normal hotel.  Every resort offers a pool, recreational activities, dining and more.  You can also visit and explore other resorts though you are not allowed to utilize their pools and some other activities.  There is so much to see and do at each Disney resort that this can easily be a full and fun day during your vacation.  You can dine at any of the Disney resorts or even just walk around.  Walt Disney World resort guests can utilize Disney transportation to the parks then hop onto that resorts transportation to arrive without having to pay extra (just keep in mind, it might take a little longer).
  • Mini golf- Walt Disney World has 2 mini golf courses, Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens.  Walt Disney World resort guests that have purchased a package (room and tickets) receive up to 4 free passes to play a round of golf.  Stop at the front desk of your resort after check in to grab your passes.
  • Disney Springs- this shopping district offers dining, entertainment and more.  From amazing food experiences to great shopping, guests can enjoy a little taste of Disney without paying for a park ticket.
  • Water parks- while these are still parks, most guests don't realize that Walt Disney World boasts 2 amazing water parks- Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.  During the winter months, they typically only keep one park open and for limited hours, but both parks offer amazing water slides, a lazy river and splash areas for younger guests.  Even if you aren't a swimmer, there are plenty of fun things to do here and are a great addition to your Disney stay.
  • Golf- Walt Disney World resort area boasts 4 beautiful golf courses.  Guests can book a tee time up to 90 days in advance.
  • Spas- while most of the spas on Disney property have not reopened just yet, Disney's Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian resort recently reopened if you are looking for true relaxation on your vacation.
