Walt Disney World- Breaking down the Basics Part 1- The Parks

Walt Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida.  This resort is over 25,000 acres and include 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, over 20 resorts and more.  There are over 100 attractions at Walt Disney World and even those most seasoned experts cannot see or do it all in a few days.So what is there to do at Disney and how can you experience this magical place without being over whelmed?  We are breaking down the basics for you starting with the theme parks in this post, but remember- our top tip is to book with one of our authorized travel planners so they can personalize your trip and help create memories that last a lifetime for you.There are 4 theme parks at Walt Disney World- Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.  Unlike Disneyland, these parks are not close together meaning you usually need some form of transportation to park hop.  (You can technically walk from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios via the Boardwalk but it is a 20 minute+ walk).Magic Kingdom- the pinnacle of the parks.  When guests think of Walt Disney World, this is the park they usually think of including Cinderella Castle, it's a small world, and more.  This park has over 30 attractions, many of which do not have height restrictions, making it a great park when you are visiting with smaller children.  We recommend guests try to have 2 full days in this park but you still won't see or do it all.  But 2 days should allow you to see the top attractions and experiences on your list here.EPCOT- the misunderstood park.  Many guests assume this park is boring or not great for children.  However, we disagree and highly recommend guests spend at least one full day here.  Most guest think of the iconic Spaceship Earth (which actually has a ride inside) or the World Showcase, but there is more to explore here including an aquarium and some great rides.  This park is also home to 4 fun festivals throughout the year- Festival of the Arts, Flower & Garden Festival, Food & Wine Festival, and Festival of the Holidays.Disney's Hollywood Studios- This park seems to get confused with Universal Studios but we can assure you they are very different.  Home to Galaxy's Edge (Star Wars) and Toy Story Land, this park offers fun attractions and amazing shows.Disney's Animal Kingdom- this is NOT a zoo.  While you can see some amazing animals here, you will never find a zoo that offers the experiences at this park including amazing shows and attractions.  There are beautiful walking trails to see and learn about animals and a safari ride to see animals up close, but that's not the only reason to visit this park (and certainly not a reason to skip it).  Make sure to check out the dining options in this park as they offer phenomenal flavor and options.Once you've determined which park to visit, guests need to purchase tickets and select park pass reservations.  Both a valid theme park ticket and park pass reservation are required for all guests 3 and older to enter the parks.  Your Goofy Getaways travel planner can help you pick which parks to select for which dates of your trip to meet your vacation needs.Ready to learn more about each park and how to plan your next visit to Walt Disney World?   Message your Goofy Getaways Travel Planner to learn more or email us at info@goofygetaways.com
