Disney Genie Arrived October 19 at Walt Disney World
Disney Genie is a new service available to Walt Disney World guests. Available in the My Disney Experience app, guests will be able to maximize their time in the parks.Disney Genie (Complimentary)All guests are able to create their "best Disney day" to help them avoid waiting in lines, pace the day with preferred experiences and build around existing plans such as dining reservations.
This is accessible to all Walt Disney World guests through their My Disney Experience app and is no additional charge. Guests will be able to list their preferences and must do rides to be given a tip board that they can choose to follow during the day. This board will adjust based on wait times, dining choices and reservations available and more. Guests will need to put in their preferences for these selections each morning they plan to enter the parks.Disney Genie+
What most guests want to know more about is the new Lighting Lanes available through the Disney Genie+. This service is $15 per person per day (plus tax) which can be added in advance through your Disney vacation planner for the length of your tickets or stay or will be able to purchase in the MDE app for existing purchased tickets (such as an annual pass).
If you are only purchasing select days during your stay or a single day, those cannot be purchased in advance and must be purchased on the same day.Over 40 attractions across the theme parks have Lightning Lane options. Starting at 7am EST, guests who've already purchased Genie+ will be able to select one attraction at a time to use their Lightning Lane with the next available time. As their LL is used, they can then select another attraction. This means you can only hold one of these standard Lightning Lane passes at a time.
Guests also can only use one Lightning Lane per ride per day (so you cannot obtain multiple Lightning Lanes to keep re-riding Haunted Mansion). You can make your next selection once you have checked in for that attraction or after 120 minutes from your previous selection.In addition, select attractions within each of the 4 theme parks will have an "Individual Lightning Lane Selection". This means that guests will pay an additional fee to purchase access to the top attractions at the parks. These a la cart options will be limited to 2 per guest per day and guests will only be able to hold one at a time. Guests can make their first purchase at 7am on the day they are visiting that park. The Individual Lightning Lane purchases can only be made the same day (no advance purchase or selection).
Guests with park hopper tickets will be able to purchase for an attraction in another park, but will only be able to select a time after 2pm EST as park hopping and attraction availability allows. Again, guests cannot repeat purchase, so you cannot purchase individual Lightning Lanes for Rise of the Resistance twice in the same day. Guests will not be able to change/modify/cancel these selections.
The bigger question being asked is "What is the cost for the individual lightning lanes"? These can only be purchased through the My Disney Experience app. Walt Disney World resort guests (and some other select hotel locations) will be able to purchase and make their selection starting at 7am on the day they are scheduled to visit. Off site guests will be able to make selections starting at official park opening. Pricing and availability vary based on attraction, park and date. This means there is no set price and it could change based on demand.
For all attractions, guests will still be able to utilize either a stand by or virtual queue if they choose not to utilize Genie+ or purchase Individual Lightning Lane Selections. Remember, all guests have access to the free Disney Genie with a suggested itinerary for their day.Here are the attractions that will offer Lightning Lane and the individual Lightning lane:
