Disneyland is Re-opening!

After 412 days, on April 30, 2021, Disneyland and California Adventure will be re-opening.  It is the fourth time in Disneyland’s history that the park has been closed.  In 1963 after President Kennedy was assassinated, 1994 after the Northridge Earthquake and in 2001 in response to the 9/11 attacks.  Each of the prior times it was only closed for 1 day.  The re-opening will be a phased process. As per the Governor’s direction, it will start out at 15% capacity and gradually increase as the county it is in moves to the next tier. There will also be a park reservation system in place to assist in monitoring the capacity. There are several health and safety protocols being implemented for guests’ safety.  There will be temperature checks at the gates, markers designating the 6-foot guidelines for lines, plexiglass barriers are in place in stores, restaurants, and some rides for added safety.  While several attractions and nighttime spectaculars, won’t be available in the beginning, there will still be plenty to enjoy. 

Many guests purchased tickets prior to Disneyland closing in 2020. These guests will be able to make reservations to use those tickets starting April 12, 2021. On April 15 tickets sales will open to all guests who are California residents. (proof of residency could be required) Also, groups can not contain more than 3 households. There is a 5 Tier system for park tickets. The tiers are based on how busy the day of the week could potentially be. Example: Tier 5 will have the most available days and Tier 1 will have the least available days. If you buy a Tier 5 ticket you can use it on any available day.  A Tier 3 ticket will allow you to use it on days designated as Tier 3, Tier 2 and Tier 1. There are 1-day tickets, multi-day tickets and the same ticket options with the park hopper option.  The price range for adults is $104 (1-day) to $415 (5-Day with Park Hopper option). The price range for children is $98 (1-Day) to $395 (5-Day with Park Hopper option).  When planning your trip to Disneyland, a Disney account will be necessary. You will be able to look at the availability calendar to make sure your dates are available.  After checking, go ahead and purchase your tickets, then make your park reservations as soon as possible.  All this can be done from the app. It addition, you will be able to use mobile order service for select dining, make dining reservations, verify important Theme Park details (hours, schedules and more) are just a few of the items the app can be used for. Reminders to make your visit magical:Know Before You Go – an excellent resource to learn about current operations.
