Renting a Cabana at a Walt Disney World resort

Travel Planner, Kristin Winn, shares her experience renting a cabana at her Walt Disney World resort. In October 2020, as a special treat to celebrate my husband’s birthday, my family decided to splurge a bit.  As a special surprise, I rented a cabana for our family to use at Stormalong Bay!Stormalong Bay is the amazing pool shared by Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts.  It’s a 3-acre area that has one of the highest waterslides on property, a kiddie slide, a lazy river, a sandy bottom pool, 3 whirlpool spas and an amazing sun deck.  We had never been, and I could not wait to experience it in style! We arrived at the check-in desk for the cabanas at 10am, as soon as they were open.  Our host cast member greeted us, checked us in, and gave us wristbands indicating we were Cabana Guests.  He then showed us to our cabana for the day and gave us a tour. The cabanas are situated next to the sandy bottom pool on the Yacht Club side, next to the International Gateway path.  Each cabana has four curtain walls, which may be opened or closed per the guests’ preferences.  A ceiling fan with light is overhead and a television is mounted in the corner.  There is a padded wicker count, two chairs and a few small tables inside of the cabana, as well as two wicker padded loungers outside on the sandy edge of the pool.  There is a counter top with cabinets underneath for storage of all of your belongings, as well as a lockable safe and a mini refrigerator.  Our host told us he had a refrigerator at his station with complimentary bottled water and soda, we just need ask for refills.

Cabanas may be requested up to 60 days in advance by calling (407) WDW-PLAY.  There is a maximum of 6 guests per cabana.  In the past, cabanas were available to rent for the morning only (10am – 2pm), the afternoon only (2pm – 6pm) or all day (10am – 6pm), but when we rented ours in October 2020, we were told that due to current safety cleaning requirements, cabanas were only being rented for full days.  The cost to rent a cabana varies based on the resort and the time of year, but prices start at $149 plus tax per half day and $249 plus tax for a full day.  Payment is due in full at time of reservation and may be canceled for a full refund up until 24 hours before your reservation.  Questions about booking a cabana reservation or the pools at Walt Disney World resorts?  Contact your Goofy Getaways Travel Planner to learn more.
