Transportation at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has several complimentary methods for getting around its 40 square miles.The most prevalent option is buses.  Every Disney resort has dedicated buses that run between the hotel (for larger resorts, there are multiple stops) and each of Disney’s four theme parks.  Bus service begins around 45 minutes before each park’s posted opening time and runs until about 1 hour after each park closes.  Buses are also running throughout the day between each resort at Disney Springs throughout Disney Springs’ posted business hours.  You can find the approximate next arrival time for the buses heading to each of the four parks from your hotel in your MyDisneyExperience app.  Disney is currently spacing guests on the buses and the bus driver assigns a section of the bus to sit in.  This can lead to longer wait times.

Finally, some parks are situated close enough to walk to select parks and attractions!  Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa all have walking paths to the Magic Kingdom park entrance.  You can also access the Grand Floridian walking path from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.  All of the Boardwalk area hotels, including Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Villas, Disney’s Beach Club Resort & Villas, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and the Swan & Dolphin Resorts can access the world showcase entrance of Epcot, Hollywood Studios, as well as Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course.  Guests at Coronado Springs can walk to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course.  And guests at Disney’s Saratoga Springs can walk to Disney Springs.  Please note – depending on your starting point, destination, and walking speed, these walks can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes.  Please consult a cast member for directions and estimated length of walk!If using public transportation options isn’t your preferred way to get around or you are pressed for time, cars are also prevalent around the World (though these options are not complimentary!).  Uber and Lyft are both very popular ways to travel direct to and from resorts, parks and other attractions.  Alamo Rent-a-Car and National Car Rental have rental counters at the Car Care Center located near Magic Kingdom Park.  Finally, many guests choose to drive their personal vehicles and park on property.  Please note, if you intend to drive at Walt Disney World, you may encounter parking fees.  Parking at resorts overnight can range from $15-25 per night for self-park and $33 for valet service, and if you are not staying at one of Disney’s resorts, parking in the lots at the theme parks can cost between $25-30 for standard parking or $45-50 for preferred per day. Want to learn more?  Reach out to your Goofy Getaways Travel Planner today.Written by Travel Planner, Kristin Winn- kristin@goofygetaways.com
