Walt Disney World boasts a variety of property including ones that offer great space, top of the line amenities and the best locations that can include quick access to your favorite park and/or views of the park from your resort room.  These are known as the deluxe resorts.  They do also have a price tag to match, but if you are looking for convenience, it might be worth the price and when you have a travel planner book your Walt Disney World vacation, we also watch for any discounts available (which often means getting a deluxe resort without the deluxe price tag).

Deluxe resorts have larger rooms to offer more space in the resort.  Most rooms also have a balcony or patio as well.  Typically they will still have two main beds, but some come with additional sleep options.  (There are also Deluxe Villa resorts which can accommodate larger groups and families- more details in a later post.)

Deluxe resorts have multiple pools including a pool with a water slide and a quiet pool area.  These pools are some of the best on property (we are looking at you Stormalong Bay) and can only be used by guests of that resort.  Deluxe resorts also offer deluxe dining options with some of the best character meal options.

But the best part of the deluxe resorts is their proximity to the parks.

Let’s check them out to learn more:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge- Animal Kingdom

As you likely guessed, this resort is located just a short bus ride from Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, but the biggest bonus is the ability to book a Savana view room and see the animals from your resort each day.  This resort is a great option for those that love to be close to nature and love animals.  Who wouldn’t love drinking their morning coffee and watching the zebras?  This resort is home to Boma- a popular meal choice with vibrant flavors from Africa (temporarily unavailable).

Disney’s Beach Club Resort- Boardwalk area near EPCOT

This resort is located in the Boardwalk area around Crescent Lake (which houses Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Beach & Yacht Club as well as the Swan & Dolphin resorts).  This area is walking distance to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios or a short boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The area is a great option for quiet walks and fun nightlife (for those over 21, be sure to check out Jellyrolls when it reopens).  Disney’s Beach Club also shares the best pool on Disney property with Disney’s Yacht Club at Stormalong Bay.  This pool has a pirate ship and a sandy bottom while overlooking Crescent Lake.  You can also rent a cabana or check out the fitness area here to find full relaxation.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn- Boardwalk area near EPCOT

Step back in time to the Jersey Shore boardwalk while visiting this great resort.  The main pool here recently received an update to its slide (changing from a clown to Mickey).  All the Boardwalk benefits apply here and it is still only a short walk to EPCOT or a walk or short boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort- Magic Kingdom resort

This resort is one of the two original properties located at Walt Disney World (though it has received many updates since then).  With just a short walk or a quick hop on the monorail, this resort is the closest to the Magic Kingdom theme park (think LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION).  This is resort houses some great dining options including the Wave, Chef Mickey’s (character meal) and the California Grill.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & SpaMagic Kingdom resort

Located just across the bay from Disney’s Magic Kingdom park, this resort boasts beautiful views of Bay Lake, amazing pools, epic dining and the wedding pavilion where guests can enjoy their dream wedding.  Also home to the best spa on property, guests can truly unwind and relax and this beautiful location.  A short monorail ride or a walk (about 1.5 miles) can bring you to the gates of the Magic Kingdom park or guests can also hop on the ferry across Bay Lake.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort- Magic Kingdom resort

The other original property at Walt Disney World has a fun tropical theme and has housed many celebrities through the years. This property is currently undergoing renovations but will be available again in 2021.  With a short monorail or ferry ride to the park or a quiet walk along the edges of Bay Lake, guests can easily access Magic Kingdom and enjoy the magic.  One of the best restaurants on Disney’s property is located here, O’hana (temporarily unavailable).

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge- Magic Kingdom resort

Take a step back in time and enjoy nature at Wilderness Lodge.  This beautiful resort is built like a log cabin but with all the bells and whistles.  Enjoy a tranquil ferry ride or hop on the bus to visit Magic Kingdom.  Designed as throwback to the old west, this resort is picturesque and has some great activities available on property such as horseback riding.

Disney’s Yacht Club- Boardwalk area near EPCOT

The sister resort to Disney’s Beach Club Resort shares a similar location and they share access to Stormalong Bay.  This resort has an upscale, adult feel with a lounge and steakhouse as its main dining locations, but is still fun for the whole family.  With recently renovated rooms, this resort has space and location that can be a great option for your Walt Disney World stay.

Deluxe resorts are an excellent choice if you want convenience and space during your Walt Disney World vacation.
